Organ Assist is ready to get the COPE trial started with the Kidney Assist. All teams across the participating countries have been trained for the use of the devices. This means that Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom are ready to get the large clinical trial started.
The teams with transplant technicians are stationed in Groningen, Maastricht, Essen, Leuven and Oxford. These teams will cover the countries that are involved in Workpackages 3 and 4 of the COPE project. More information about the COPE trial can be found at www.cope-eu.org
Organ Assist is involved with the Kidney Assist in the clinical trial workpackages 3 and 4. Workpackage 3 will compare treatment with the Kidney Assist after cold storage. The kidneys will be perfused pre-implant; a comparison will be made between oxygenated and non-oxygenated perfusion.
Workpackage 4 will cover the clinical trial on continuous perfusion with the Kidney Assist. The comparison that will be made is oxygenated and non-oxygenated perfusion.
